Spirulina Smoothie c/o Melissa Wood Health
I owe a lot to a woman I’ve never met. She’s killing it in her career as a health and wellness guide, graduate from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (the same program I am currently taking), fitness instructor and mother. With an amazing personal story to tell and an infectiously positive attitude, Melissa Wood Tepperberg is the real deal— no frills, down to earth, makes me want to be a mom even though I am FAR from ready (like, FAR), and oh so inspiring. She is my mentor and doesn’t even know who I am. But maybe one day I’ll slide into those DMs and get her to do an interview here on the HYElife.
One of the many things she has gotten me totally hooked on, in addition to her workouts on the app Fitner, are her spirulina smoothies. The gist of the recipe is below. Her exact amounts may vary and I switch up the fruits based on what is seasonal or what I have on hand. The best part is, it tastes damn good. Every. Time.
Spirulina Smoothie c/o Melissa Wood Health:
• 1 cup spinach
• 1 cup romaine
• 1/2 cup coconut water
• 1/2 cup water
• 1/2 peeled cucumber
• 1 banana (frozen for creamier smoothie)
• 1 cup berries, mango, kiwi, açaí, dragonfruit, apple, etc.
• 2 tsp Pure Hawaiian Spirulina powder
• 1-3 ice cubes
I also like to add maca powder, chlorophyll, lemon, cinnamon and turmeric if I have them handy.
Delicious, refreshing, energizing, filling.
