On Meaningful Messes

Why are we so quick to wipe away our messes? Our mistakes? Our embarrassments? Why are we so quick to dehumanize ourselves? The faster we try to brush aside and cover up the things that we aren’t proud of, the faster we rid ourselves of the opportunity to grow from them. To look at them in a different perspective. To see them as beautiful. To remind us that, in our moments of great success, we have earned it. Think about it— would you read an autobiography of someone who only ever achieved and never lost? What would you learn from that? Who could relate to that? No one, because we all mess up. But we can all relate to the underdog.
